What Storage Does on Republic
Republic uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember supported preferences, maintain selected accounts, and protect the service. The current service has no advertising cookies, analytics tracker, or optional tracking integration. There is no tracking-consent banner for tracking that does not exist. If optional tracking is introduced, legally required consent must be obtained before it starts, with equally accessible Accept All, Reject Optional, and Customize choices. Optional consent remains separate from registration and Terms acceptance.
Sign-In and Security Cookies
The republic-auth cookie family holds protected session credentials and can be split across several cookies. It is HttpOnly, uses Secure transport in production, and uses SameSite protections that support sign-in. Its lifetime is up to 45 days, or shorter if revoked. The republic_discord_oauth cookie protects a sign-in attempt for 10 minutes. The republic_discord_pending cookie holds an encrypted connection proof during account creation or linking for 10 minutes. Discord credentials are not readable by application JavaScript.
The republic_device cookie is a security identifier with a maximum 90-day lifetime. It supports account protection and detection of abuse or restriction evasion. It is not an advertising identifier and does not track you across unrelated websites. Security records associated with the identifier have their own retention controls.
Saved Accounts and Local Information
When you save account access on a device, a republic_account_ cookie stores an encrypted session for the selected account for up to 45 days. Saved account access supports switching between accounts and must not be left on shared devices. One personal Discord connection can own up to five Republic accounts. Remove saved access or sign out using the account and Security controls.
Account-scoped interaction, navigation, and notification caches reduce repeated requests. Search history and supported display preferences can also be stored on your device. Local records are not a public database or an advertising profile. Switching accounts separates account-scoped state; removing a local history entry does not delete the underlying public post or account.
Remove Storage or Sign Out
Use Republic's account and Security controls to sign out or remove saved accounts. Browser settings can delete or block cookies and other storage. Blocking necessary authentication storage can prevent sign-in, account switching, and protected actions. Deleting local cookies does not automatically delete server-side account records or information already lawfully collected. Use the Privacy Policy's request and deletion channels for those records.
Discord and external websites use their own cookies when you visit or authorize them. Their policies govern their storage. Clearing Republic storage does not clear a Discord session or revoke copies retained by another service.
