Scope and Contact

This Policy explains how Republic's operators handle information about visitors and account holders. It covers Republic, not Discord's independent practices, linked websites, or copies other people retain. Use the private legal request channel for privacy questions and requests. Any additional controller, representative, or contact disclosures required by applicable law must be provided by the operators; a public account identity does not replace those disclosures.

Account and Authentication Information

Republic receives your account identifier, handle, display name, biography, profile images, affiliations, account status, and chosen settings. Discord authentication supplies a stable Discord identifier and authorization to identify the connected account. The default sign-in scope does not request your Discord email, contacts, servers, messages, or password. Credentials needed to maintain the connection are encrypted, restricted to the server, and never public profile fields.

Eligibility records include your declared country, applicable minimum age, and confirmation date. Registration and linking do not request a birth date or infer an age band from Discord sign-in. Older age-band records remain subject to retention and correction rules. Self-declaration and Discord control do not establish identity or age verification. Republic records the policy versions and times of acceptance or acknowledgment.

Content, Activity, and Requests

We receive the posts, replies, quotes, media, descriptions, and other content you submit. Activity records include likes, reposts, follows, Favorites, blocks, mutes, reports, and notification read states. Reports, appeals, verification applications, and legal or recovery requests can include explanations and contact details you provide. Previously collected records, including communications from discontinued features, remain subject to this Policy's retention and access rules.

Do not send passwords, authorization tokens, unnecessary medical details, payment information, or another person's private records. A specific lawful process, such as a copyright notice or counter-notice, can require actual contact information and a signature. That information is not a public profile field merely because it is required for a request.

Technical Information and Purposes

Technical information can include network addresses, requests and errors, session identifiers, necessary cookie identifiers, browser or device characteristics, and security signals. Infrastructure providers can maintain operational logs. We use this information to operate Republic, diagnose failures, authenticate accounts, secure sessions, detect abuse, and prevent circumvention. A technical association alone is not conclusive evidence of wrongdoing.

We use account and activity information to display profiles and content, provide interactions, apply audience and safety controls, support recovery, deliver notices, and recommend public posts. Home uses follows and topics associated with recent likes and Favorites alongside recency and engagement. We use relevant reports and records to address harmful conduct, appeals, legal requests, fraud, and legal duties. Essential communications concern security, policies, moderation, and important service notices.

Lawful Bases and Visibility

Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, processing can be necessary for the account agreement, a legal obligation, or proportionate legitimate interests such as security and responsible moderation, with consideration of your rights. Optional processing requiring consent stays off until valid consent is obtained. A Privacy Policy acknowledgment is not blanket consent, and Terms acceptance does not authorize every use of data.

Public profiles and public posts can be seen by others and appear in search or link previews. Restricted audiences are checked by the service and are not intentionally put into shared public caches or public embeds. Restricted content and request records are limited to permitted recipients and legitimate operational, safety, or legal access. They are not end-to-end encrypted. A report does not expose the report or internal review record to the reported account simply because it was submitted.

People can copy content they can access. Deletion or access changes cannot retrieve their copies. Temporary media URLs expire; they cannot revoke an already downloaded file. Do not use Republic to share information that requires stronger confidentiality.

Providers and Other Disclosures

Service providers process relevant information for hosting, authentication, sessions, database and file storage, security, delivery, and communications. Provider processing can involve separate legal duties and international transfers. Contractual and technical safeguards apply where required; contact the legal request channel for applicable transfer or representative information.

Discord is a separate service and receives authorization information during sign-in. Essential Discord messages can include a recipient identifier, brief notice, or service link; sensitive moderation reasons and restricted content are not placed in those alerts. Discord determines message availability under its own policies. Turning off essential Discord messages does not remove on-platform notices. Republic does not sell personal information or operate an advertising-tracking system in its current service.

Information can be disclosed as reasonably necessary for a valid legal demand, serious safety threat, abuse investigation, legal claim, or lawful organizational change with appropriate safeguards and notice. Republic cannot promise confidentiality against every lawful demand.

Security, Retention, and Deletion

Republic uses encrypted transport, protected server credentials, restricted access, account-specific session storage, and security auditing. No system eliminates every risk. Secure your Discord account and sign out on shared devices. Account and content information is kept while needed to provide the account and its features. Saved-device sessions expire after up to 45 days; verification for ordinary participation can expire sooner and require renewal.

Deletion requests promptly restrict ordinary participation and schedule live-data erasure within 30 days unless a documented legal or safety hold applies. Erasure removes account content, credentials, and associated stored media from live systems. Shared conversations, third-party copies, caches, and Discord records have separate limits. Delivery logs and ordinary rate-limit records are pruned according to their operational periods. Moderation, legal, and audit evidence is kept only as needed for abuse handling, appeals, rights claims, or legal duties, with review of preservation holds.

Backups are isolated from ordinary access and expire under the applicable backup schedule. Restored backups must have deletion records reapplied. Contact the legal request channel about retention relevant to your request; provider backups do not have a single erasure deadline stated here. When preservation delays erasure, the response should explain the reason and review where disclosure is lawful.

Your Controls and Rights

You can edit your profile, choose supported post audiences, block or mute accounts, manage essential Discord messages, and review saved sessions. Account privacy controls provide an export and deletion request. Exports exclude other people's restricted information, secret credentials, and confidential security records. Use the legal request channel for access, correction, objection, restriction, portability, deletion questions, or concerns about an automated or moderation decision.

We verify authority before releasing or changing personal data and can request proportionate information to do so. Requests are handled within the applicable statutory deadline; lawful extensions, exceptions, and refusals depend on the request and jurisdiction. Rights can be limited to protect others or preserve records lawfully. You can withdraw optional consent without changing the lawfulness of earlier consent-based processing and complain to a competent supervisory authority where applicable. Privacy requests remain available when you decline updated Terms or cannot resume ordinary participation.

Younger Users, International Use, and Changes

Republic does not permit children below 13 or a higher applicable minimum age. Ineligible accounts are restricted and relevant records deleted or otherwise handled lawfully. A checkbox is not a substitute for applicable age-assurance or child-safety duties. Providers or legitimate service personnel can process information outside your country; required transfer safeguards and jurisdiction-specific notices must be in place where applicable.

Published policies identify their version and effective date. Important changes are announced on Republic and may also be queued for Discord delivery. Editorial corrections do not automatically require a new contractual agreement. Updating a policy does not retrospectively authorize incompatible uses or replace consent that the law requires.
