Find the Decision
Open Account Standing to see violations and restrictions affecting your account. Read the notice for the conduct involved, the rule applied, the penalty, and its duration where applicable. A removed post and an account restriction can be parts of the same decision. If several decisions are listed, check each one: they may have different reasons, durations, and appeal outcomes.
Understand Your Standing
Confirmed violations contribute to your account history. Repeated violations can lead to longer or more restrictive penalties, including permanent suspension. Serious violations can result in immediate suspension without a warning first. Finishing a temporary restriction does not erase the underlying violation. The Community Guidelines require permanent suspension for confirmed personal-information violations and child sexual exploitation; a mistaken finding can still be challenged.
Submit an Appeal
Use the eligibility and deadline shown with the decision. Disagreeing with an outcome is not the same as explaining an error. Keep the appeal focused on the actual finding or penalty.
- Open the decision you believe is wrong and select its available appeal option.
- Identify the finding or penalty you are challenging.
- Explain the specific mistake. Describe missing context, incorrect attribution, or another factual error and how it changes the decision.
- Provide relevant evidence without exposing private information or fabricating records.
- Submit the appeal and follow its recorded status and response.
After the Review
A review can uphold, change, or overturn a decision. When a violation is overturned, its effect on account standing and penalties resulting from it is corrected. Other upheld violations can still restrict the account. Read the outcome and your remaining restrictions together. A confirmed personal-information violation is not reduced to a temporary penalty through appeal; reversal requires that the finding was mistaken.
