Choose Your Attachments
A post can contain up to five photos and videos, including a mix of both. Each file must be no larger than 25 MB. Supported photo formats are PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF. Supported video file types are MP4, WebM, and QuickTime. The file type must match the file's actual format; renaming a file extension does not convert it.
Add and Review Files
Describe the important information conveyed by an image, rather than repeating its filename. Check every frame or document view you intend to share for private information.
- Open the Home composer or select Post.
- Select the media icon and choose your files, or drag them into the composer.
- Check every preview. Remove an unwanted file with its attachment remove control.
- Use attachment editing controls to add a useful media description and review any other available attachment details.
- Write your accompanying text, check the character counter, and select Post.
When an Upload Fails
Your text and selected file stay in the composer after an upload error. Check the file size and supported type, confirm your connection, and retry. If the file is too large, export a smaller version before attaching it again. For video playback problems, the codec inside a supported container can still affect what a browser can play. Do not assume that changing the filename fixes an unsupported encoding.
Find Published Media
Open a profile's Media tab to see its posts containing photos or videos. Open a post to view its attachments in context and use its reply composer. Profile pictures and banners have their own close-up viewer when selected on a profile. Posting a photo or video does not transfer your ownership to Republic, but you must have the rights or another lawful basis to share it and must follow the Community Guidelines.
